After a sustained effort over 3 years the realignment and rebuilding of the Mount Isa - Camooweal road into a safe dual highway is now finally completed.
At a number of places along the way sections of the old horror track can still be glimpsed alongside, reminding us of the very hazardous conditions in the past.

This 190 km section of the A2 is a vital link for all road traffic (goods, domestic, tourism) between the Eastern States and the Northern Territory.
With some recent improvements to the Katherine - Darwin section also completed, the 1600 km from Mount Isa to Darwin is now a quality dual highway which is a pleasure to drive on.
