The Darwin Sailing Club (DSC, NT, Australia) has used the Top Yacht application (designed and distributed by Rod McCubbin in Melbourne, Australia) for scoring races very successfully for a number of years. The DSC racing program is one of the most complex in the country, with 10 different Divisions sailing in a variety of races each week.

Top Yacht also performed very well when the Darwin Sailing Club hosted the Laser Asia Pacific Championships in 2003, the Tasar World Titles in 2005, and at several National Regattas.

Like any application which contains a great variety of tasks and possibilities, the budding operator, new to the task, may find some challlenges to get familiar with the program.
However my personal experience is that, once you get your eye in, it is a wonderful, easy to use and very versatile application.

For those who also wish to be involved in scoring races I wrote in October 2005 a small 20 page step by step Easy Guide to ease them into the most commonly used tasks required for scoring races on Top Yacht. It will make the learning process very easy and also most enjoyable.

In November 2006, I have addded a comprehensive TY Workshop to the free download.
The Workshop will guide you step by step through the entire process of setting up and running a whole Race season in the way we do it at the Darwin Sailing Club. The Workshop contains (fictional) data for five full race days with a variety of races for a range of dinghies, cats and keelboats which you can use to practice.

Simply folow the download and installation instructions below (no password required). Feel free to send me your questions or comments at any time.

If you wish to hear more about the Top Yacht application please contact Rod McCubbin at the Top Yacht website.
